TRIBUTE CONCERT TO JOSÉ TOMÁS, 25TH ANNIVERSARY: Thursday, the 23rd, at 8:00 PM in the Caixapetrer auditorium. First part: Alberto Plaza, Grau-Alfonso Duo, Anders Clemens, Pedro Mateo Gonzalez. Second part: The José Tomás Ephemeral Guitar Orchestra, conducted by Francisco Albert Ricote.

This project of the José Tomás Villa de Petrer International Guitar Festival began in 2012 with a tribute to Maestro Leo Brouwer and the presentation of the José Tomás Guitarist Honorary Award. The orchestra was conducted for several years by Pedro Chamorro. It has also been conducted by artists such as Jorge Cardoso, Francisco Albert Ricote, and Arnaud Dumond. 2019 was the year of its last edition. After the pandemic, we relaunched this flagship project of the Guitar Festival in 2023 with the idea that students enrolled in the courses would experience living and sharing music with renowned artists. Miguel García Ferrer, director of various chamber ensembles, joined us from 2023 to 2025. This year, we’ve prepared a tribute concert to José Tomás featuring artists such as Pedro Mateo González, Anders Clemens, Alberto Plaza, and the Grau-Alfonso Duo, who, in addition to their solo recitals, will join the orchestra conducted by Francisco Albert Ricote. Rehearsals will take place on the afternoons of the 20th, 21st, and 22nd, prior to the concert, and will not coincide with masterclasses. The concert will be held on Thursday the 23rd at 8:00 PM in the Caixapetrer auditorium. Sheet music will be sent in advance. Sign up if you’d like to participate! At the end of the concert, all participants will be invited to a celebratory dinner. The concert will be streamed on the YouTube channel of the prestigious Omni Foundation in the USA.
