MANDOLIN AND BANDURRIA: Technique, Similarities, and Repertoire in Italy and Spain (Group Workshop with Instrument)

This workshop explores the mandolin and the bandurria, plucked string instruments representative of Italian and Spanish musical traditions. Through practical demonstrations and analysis, their main structural and timbral similarities will be highlighted, as well as the differences related to construction, tuning, and performance approach.

Special attention will be paid to instrumental technique, with examples of plectrum use, articulation, and sound production, emphasizing both the similarities and specificities of both instruments. The workshop will be enriched with repertoire examples that will allow participants to understand the musical context in which the mandolin and the bandurria developed, offering them a broader view of their expressive and interpretive possibilities.
