“FROM GARDEL TO PIAZZOLLA”. Rhythmic models of tango accompaniment and melodic phrasing. (Collective with instrument)

The workshop will address fundamental patterns of accompaniment, its articulation, accentuation, and stylistic variations, as well as its relationship to melodic phrasing. It will analyze how the accompaniment supports and interacts with the melody, from the more traditional style associated with Gardel’s era to the rhythmic and expressive innovations introduced by Piazzolla.

Through practical examples, guided listening, and performance exercises, participants will develop tools to understand and apply different resources of tango accompaniment, paying special attention to the phrasing, dynamics, and expressiveness that define the genre’s identity.

The workshop is aimed at musicians and performers interested in deepening their understanding of the language of tango and expanding their interpretive resources within this repertoire.
