THE ART OF ARRANGEMENT. Winners of the GFA International Ensemble Competition 2023, the Mela Guitar Quartet, present their inventive approach to arranging large-scale orchestral and piano works for guitar ensemble. The ever-present issues for arrangers of sustain, quick passages, and orchestral colour will be discussed, and creative techniques to work around common limitations will be showcased, featuring arrangements of works by Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, and more.
